Finding the right person
Did I really employ you? That's a question that has happened a few times in my head and the next question followed soon after. How did I get it so wrong?
Here's some tips that may help you find the right person,
Ask interview questions based around the culture of the organisation.
Start your questions with.....(Example) Could you tell me about a time when...........
Choose a value present in your organisation I will use Flexibility as an example....... so here's the complete question. Could you tell me about a time when you went above and beyond the call of duty?
Leave the question there and allow the person to volunteer information. You will find out a lot more using this approach.
Observe body language be careful most people are very nervous, try not to confuse nerves with insensitivity or indifference.
Use a scoring system always have two people interviewing. One asking the questions and one observing and scoring the candidate.
Before you make the final decision use a behavioural profiling tool. I use FINXs accompanied with a job match analysis this is invaluable for managing that person into the role and accelerates the process of onboarding.
All the best
